Project Lily Pad will establish private-public partnerships to subsidize the costs for free wireless. Corporations, individuals and organizations can sponsor “Lily Pads”. Lily Pad websites and signage will promote the area as a free wireless zone and recognize sponsors, enabling them to promote their products to users and inquirers. The tax-deductible sponsorship will cover costs of installation, data access, maintenance, and marketing of the Lily Pad.
A typical installation process:
- Potential Lily Pad location contacts Project Lily Pad.
- Lily Pad surveys contact and location to determine hardware and access requirements.
- Lily Pad estimates installation costs and works with community to identify sponsors.
- Once sponsor is identified, hardware is configured, installed, and activated and site is up and running.
- Project Lily Pad team members will coordinate printing and installation of marketing materials, signage, and raise awareness of the Lily Pad.
